Hi, I’m Bear Wiseman!

No, Bear is not my real name. I never really clicked with my real name, so when the time came to consider a pseudonym, I went for something more bespoke. Bear was a nickname given to me by a dear friend in the high school days of yore and it always felt fitting, for a variety of reasons.

Now, since you’ve popped by my website, it goes without saying that you might want to learn something about me. Well, the most important thing to know is that I am a relentless storyteller, so this is less an About page and more a bunch of links to my various backstories that you can pick and choose from, based off which of my various goings-on lured you here in the first place!

I’m also a brand ambassador for www.harempants.com and www.suredesigntshirts.com! Use the code “geekbear” at the checkout for a 10% discount!

Random Facts

I’m a hippy with a hundred house plants, a big outdoor garden, and I almost exclusively wear harem pants

Bowser (fairly recently shaved), Luffy, and Simon (2018)

Bowser (Beans), Luffy, and Simon (2018)

I don’t hard-commit to most identities, as I’m fairly fluid in most things and believe people to be ever-changing entities—I identify as an individual more than anything else. No gender pronouns offend me, though I do prefer to be referred to as she/they. I do identify as demisexual, panromantic, and polyamorous, even if my relationship is mono. I am as passionately spiritual as I am anti-Western-religion. I’m a proud geek. I oppose hate in all its forms.

Philosophies

I have a hard and fast belief in living by my morals, including following the golden rule and trying not to make situations worse. I believe in the golden rule of treating others as you wish to be treated. I believe in kindness, love, and understanding. I try not to judge, but show empathy instead. I would rather educate someone than ridicule them. I hold myself to an equally, if not higher standard than everyone else, but I also believe that no one (myself included) is perfect, and we should just do our best in every situation.

So many cats…

I really love animals, but I’ve definitely always been a cat person. We got our oldest ragdoll, Simon (then 4ish), in 2014 when the breeder was looking for a foster home for her feisty uncut male. I fell in love with Luffy (then 8ish months) when I went to meet Simon, as Luffy quickly decided that I belonged to him (and I have ever since). We got Bowser as an emotional support kitten for Luffy in 2017, and in September 2021, I flew to Belgium to pick up Teddy. They are both my best friends and some of the hugest pains in my ass.
